All You Need To Know About the Speech Last Night: "Echoes of Clinton in Obama Speech"
Ouch! "Echoes of Clinton in Obama Speech"--that's the headline atop Eamon Javers' story in Politico, and that about sums it up.
The President managed to muddy the waters, throwing out the idea of tort reform, without really committing himself to anything. But he certainly didn't galvanize his own folks. And so I don't see him gaining much momentum--and in the meantime, there's that darn precedent of Bill and Hillary.
And in the meantime, completely absent from the speech were the words "cure" and "research." Obama mentioned medicine just twice, and in a routine fashion. Like the Clintons before him, Obama is more focused on the redistribution of health, not the creation of health.
