Why Neither Party is Winning: The Search for a Better Healthcare Model

Just posted on, including this discussion of healthcare in the context of the budget battles:

In addition, all attempts at projecting budget savings for programs such as health care suffer from a reversal of cause and effect. 

If people are sick, such programs will be expensive, no matter what some Beltway bean-counter might decree. So therefore, self-declared budget experts would be better advised focusing on ways to cure sickness, because if people were healthier, budget savings would come automatically.

  1. Doesn't anyone remember the Balanced Budget Act of 1998? Hilary's back door entry into socialized medicine and ALL nursing home patients were cut off from Medicare for about 2 years until seniors raised hell with Congress to reinstate a little bit.
