"Mayo Clinic in Arizona to Stop Treating Some Medicare Patients"

This December 31 Bloomberg article, from David Olmos, pretty much answers the question of whether or not Obamacare will lead to a further restricting of choice and care for seniors--just for starters.

  1. Having recently relocated, looking for new doctors, I am amazed at the number who have told me they no longer accept patients over the age of 62 because they "don't want any more Medicare patients" in their practices. Too demanding, too muich attention needed, and not enough reimbursement. This is nothing new. It's just not "news."

  2. Anonymous, shouldn't it be news? Isn't the drop in Medicare providers a direct form of rationing? Isn't this a scary harbinger of the future where millions are going to be added to Medicare and the number of doctors who treat these patients is dropping? We talk about "death panels", and the Dems say there is no such thing. If the old people are on Medicare, and no one is left to take care of them, isn't that the same thing?.
